About Me.

I am Dr. Waajida L. Small, and I am a Purpose Alignment Coach. I am the Founder and CEO of Capital Conscious U, a leadership development firm focused on helping career and entrepreneur women find and align their purpose with their work and business.

I am obsessed with learning, and over the course of my career I’ve continued my education obtaining several credentials that I believe have helped me become a better leader and coach, and have helped those I serve become better versions of themselves. I am a Certified Purpose Leader (CPL), Certified Human Capital Strategist (HCS) and certified professional coach (CPC) with specialties in career, executive, and spiritual coaching. I also have a doctorate in Human Capital Management with a research emphasis on women of color and leadership.

My firm belief is that everyone can find, live, and work in their purpose, and be successful. They just need a little direction, and I am here to show them the way!

My Work.

Helping people and businesses be the best they can is what I’ve done my entire career. Over the past 15 years as a human resources leader and executive, I’ve helped international organizations design and implement strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent. Because this is what I loved, I have also held a variety of roles through service, including advisory board member for Rutgers University's Center for Innovation Big Data Certificate Program, serving on the leadership team for the Black Doctoral Network (BDN) as Director of Diversity and Inclusion, and content creator for Idealist Careers, a platform which helps mission and purpose driven individuals to find, keep, and love jobs that have a social impact.

My Passion and Purpose.

My purpose is to help cultivate other purpose driven leaders who create spaces for women to be successful and provide value to the world and those they serve.  I do this by sharing my knowledge, wisdom, and experience, through coaching and by teaching strategies and best practices to position women of color and entrepreneurs for success.

I am passionate about helping women thrive in the workplace, in their businesses, and the world. Being a mentor and sponsor has been two of the most rewarding roles I have been blessed to have.  My work as a member, speaker and volunteer with organizations such as the United Nations Association Southern NY State Division Young Professionals, IMPACT Leadership 21 Emerging Global Leaders Circle Mentorship, Black Women of Influence, The Black Girl Project, and the International Association of Women, has allowed me to broaden my span of scope to impact the lives of women across the globe.

To take it a step further, I have authored the book “Our Leadership Journey: Shared Stories, Lessons and Advice for Women of Color” a resource guide which provides lessons, practical advice, and a roadmap on how to become a responsible leader and obtain a level of success that only women can define for themselves.

Learn how to build on your purpose.
